This is a complete tour of Bulgaria and a great chance to try some unique local flavours and wines. Bulgaria is famous for its traditional grape varieties. The country’s climate, landscape and soils are exceptional for vine growing and wine making. According to the different soils and climate conditions, the country is divided into several regions, each with particular grape varieties and wines. The Wine Path of Bulgaria
Day 1

After arrival we start our sightseeing tour of Sofia. Visits include Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the 4-th century St. George Rotonda, the Mosque, the Synagogue. In the evening we drive to the foot of Vitosha Mountain for a traditional Bulgarian dinner and a folklore music show.

Day 2

Morning departure to Pleven via Troyan - a town in central Bulgaria famous with the production of premium quality plum brandy. After lunch (plum brandy tasting included) we continue to Pleven - the town is located in the heart of a major vine growing region, the Danubian Plain. Here we visit the Wine museum and do some wine tasting. Dinner and overnight in Pleven.

Day 3
Veliko Tarnovo

Departure to Veliko Tarnovo - Bulgaria’s medieval capital. Visit Tsarevets Fortress, the church of St. Petar and Pavel. Wine tasting at Lyaskovets Winery. Also visit the nearby museum village of Arbanassi and the Church of Nativity. Dinner and overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

Day 4

Departure to Kazanlak, cross the Balkan Mountains through the spectacular Shipka pass, see the famous Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak and taste some Rose specialties including Rose liqueur. After lunch we proceed to Starosel winery - also known as the Thracian temple of wine. Late afternoon arrival to Plovdiv for dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 5

Guided walking tour of  Plovdiv, including Ethnographic Museum, St. Constantine and Helena Church and Roman Amphitheatre. After lunch we proceed to the village of Bresotovitsa for wine tasting. The region is known as the producer of the unique for Bulgaria Mavrud wines. Afternoon transfer to Bansko - a town in the Pirin Mountains famous for its unique cuisine specialties. Dinner and overnight in Bansko.

Day 6

Morning departure to Melnik - the smallest town in Bulgaria. Visit Kordopoulova House with its impressive architecture and unique wine cellars carved into the stone. Wine tasting in Melnik - dry red wine from the region. Drive to the nearby Spa resort of Sandanski for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7

Morning departure to Sofia. En route visit the 10-th century Rila Monastery, the biggest and most spectacular in Bulgaria, one of Europe’s oldest and included in UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage List. After lunch we proceed to Sofia for a farewell dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8

Free morning. Depart hotel for Sofia Airport (time to be advised).

Ramada Sofia   , Sofia
