One Day Tours

Sofia - Rose Valley

The Rose Valley is a region in Bulgaria located just south of the Balkan Mountains, some 200 km from Sofia. The valley is famous for its rose-growing industry - these flowers have been cultivated there for centuries, producing 85% of the world’s rose oil. The area also has a fascinating and long history going back to the ancient Thracians. The famous 4-th century BC Thracian tomb of Kazanlak (Unesco World Heritage site) is one of the most important relics from that period. Apart from the Thracian tombs, we will visit the Ethnographic complex Kulata, with typical Bulgarian Renaissance architecture. At the Rose Museum you will learn about the traditional rose-oil production in Bulgaria and all developments that have taken place in the industry since 1660.

Afetr lunch we continue our trip with Shipka Memorial Church - one of the most beautiful churches in Bulgaria, lying at the foot of the mountain, overlooking the Rose valley. Before going back to Sofia we will pass through Hisarya - a famous Spa resort in the heart of Bulgaria. Here we will visit ancient Romans bath, as well as the best preserved Roman fortress in Bulgaria.
