KAZANLAK - THE CENTER OF ROSE OIL PRODUCTION

Kazanlak is a fascinating town with a long history. Situated in the Rose valley at the foot of the majestic Balkan Mountains, it is surrounded by green meadows and picturesque hills. This is what attracted the Thracians whom settled here around 4th century BC and started this  magnificent development. The famous Thracian tomb of Kazanlak (Unesco World Heritage site) is one of the most important relics of that time. There are also a number of other tombs scattered all around the valley offering a fascinating glance at the old Thracians and their mysterious civilization.

Today, as it has always been, Kazanlak continues to be the most important center of rose oil production in Bulgaria. About 60% of the world’s rose oil is made here. The town also hosts the Rose festival and attracts thousands of tourists every year.
